History on the Web

Mar 3, 2017

I have a couple of websites to recommend.

Lana Okerlund is a Vancouver book editor, writer and history buff who has begun blogging on the history of bookselling in BC at "A Most Agreeable Place." Apparently she set out to answer the question "What was the first bookseller in Vancouver?" and the result became this blog. (The answer to the question, by the way, is Seth Thorne Tilley who provided the pen, ink and paper for the city's first council meeting in 1886.)

Secondly, for the past year the incredibly energetic Andrea Eidinger has been blogging about Canadian history at "Unwritten Histories." I'm especially impressed by her weekly roundup of history-related items from academic journals and the daily media. Where does she find the time? Well, apparently she has hit the wall, at least financially, and has put out a call for help. Her blog is such a great resource that I hope she finds a way of keeping it going.
